Gyokuro is rolled form of shaded Japanese green tea leaf. What makes the Gyokuro tea leaf unique is that, for the final month before harvesting it is covered by shade. The method is called ooishita. Compared to Sencha, which leaves ripen in the sun, Gyokuro contains much less bitterness. Taeina is responsible for the good mood and relaxing feeling that accompanies drinking brew. It also increases the level of concentration, reduces stress and anxiety. Drinking Gyokuro was appreciated even by Japanese Zen monks who popularized the use of tea in their meditation sessions.
Our Gyokuro comes from prefecture Shizuoka in Japan - region particularly known for producing high quality tea.
